Planting and growing seeds

I've had this post written up and ready to go for quite some time now, but I was hoping some of the plants would have flowers to show before posting it. So far, none of our plants have any flowers :(
So I thought I would just go ahead and post it anyways

I found this pots at Wal Mart and thought Sammie would love to be able to have her own flowers to look after. So I bought one of each kind. We have Dwarf Sunflowers, Daisies and Purple Cone flowers.

Each pot came with seeds, soil pods and planting instructions.

Sammie poured the right amount of water into a dish with the soil pod and watched it grow into a clump of soil :)

Our cat, Lolly, had to come check out what we were doing. I'm sure she was hoping it might have been food lol

Once the soil pod was grown, Sammie poured some of the soil into the pot.

Sprinkled in some of the seeds.

Then she covered the seeds with some more soil and we gave them a little drink.
We have a little sun room at the back of the house and we decided that this would be the best place for her plants to grow.
I set a little spray bottle by the plants so the Sammie could water the plants. I was hoping that with the spray bottle there would be less chance of her over watering them :)

I marked on each pot which kind of seed was in them, so we could remember :)

On day 5 the sunflowers started to grow

Maddie wanted to plant some seeds too, but Wal Mart didn't have anymore of the little pots that Sammie used. I got her a pot from the dollar store and she planted the left over sunflower seeds.

By day 10, all of Sammie's plants had started to grow.

After 2 weeks

Maddie's class at school went on a field trip to a local conservation area, where they helped with planting some new trees. Each student was given a little seedling to bring home.Maddie's seedling is a Red Dogwood.

After one month, the plants had really grown, but still no flowers. :(

After about 8 weeks, the plants were starting to look a little sickly, so we decided to replant them outside in a big planter box.

Both girls were ready to garden :)

I had bought a Hens and Chicks plant that we decided would look good in our planter as well.
The girls thought our planter looked a little plain, so they decorated it with shells, stones and glass gems :)
One of plants didn't survive the transplant. :( We had a hard time getting the plants out of their little pots and the daisy plant didn't make it :(

Austin was inside playing while the girls replanted the plants and was quite upset that he couldn't go out too. So Maddie started playing with him though the windows :)

Sammie had a lot of fun with her plants and did a very good job at looking after them. :) There were only a couple of days that I had to remind her about watering them

Hopefully now that they are outside, the plants will start to grow some flowers. Once they do, I will be sure to share our pretty flowers.
