Playing with Water

Our weather has finally gotten nice enough to spend some time outside again. So we went out to play for a couple of hours before the rain chased us inside again

Sammie wanted to play with some water. This girl is in love with water, she will play in it anywhere and anytime :)

So I filled up some different kinds of bottles with water coloured with liquid water colours and let her at it

I had a friend of ours build this table for me. It has two removable totes with lids, to use with water, sand, whatever. The top of it is corrugated plastic with lots of usable space in between the totes. The table is just the right height for Sammie to stand at or an adult to sit at. And so much less pricey than the store bought kinds:)

I found the basic idea for what I wanted at Our House in the Middle of the Street and Bumble and Bean. My friend combined those ideas and my thoughts on what I wanted and this great table is what he made :) We just love it
I turned the hose on and she starting filling the bucket

The supplies for playing in water or sand, shells, rocks, different sized containers, strainers, basters, neon drink tubes, some little people and fairy dolls, soup spoons, small spoons and wooden blocks and anything else that she can find to go in the water or sand :)

She told me she was going to make some purple soup. She starting spraying in some colours

and more colours

"What colour should I use next?"

I moved the bottles along the side so she could reach them easier.
And she adds some more purple

Trying out the pump bottle of purple. Can you guess what her favourite colour is? lol

I think I might spray the bottoms of the totes with some white paint, as she was having a hard time seeing the colours until all the water was coloured.

Then she pulled out her water sprayer and said she needed to put out some fires

Spraying the grass.
I guess that's where the fires were? :)

Then spraying the garden

Back to her soup :) It's nice and purple now. Got to stir it up a bit

She decided to add in some dandelions :)
That's when we got chased inside by the rain. She wasn't too happy

The next day, we ended up outside for a bit again and she immediately asked to make some more soup :)

Trying out a different kind of bottle

Using blue this time

She tried to use the pump bottle again and this time we lodged it in between the tote and the edge, so she could pump without having to hold it. Works much better :)

"Look Mommy, you can see the purple floating around"

Then she started using the squeeze bottle (of purple of course lol) I sometimes wonder why I put out the other colours :) She was shaking it and only getting a few drops out at a time. I suggested that if she squeezed it, she might get more out. She then told me "I want it to poof out. I like it poofing out"

We had to go around the yard to find "gredients" for her soup. We picked some dandelions and leaves. She found a pine cone, but said it wouldn't work :) She added some rocks and shells that were in her supply box as well.

It was not long after this, that the rain chased us in again :(

Hopefully our weather will soon get nice and stay nice, so we can spend a lot more time outdoors making more soup :)

and then, she {snapped}

  1. Aw, your little girl looks like she had a blast! I love how much the kiddos love playing in water. All of mine still do from oldest to youngest :) It's funny how kids think. My 7 year old likes to "water" the plants with the squatters too.
