I was cleaning up in the craft/play/rec room and Sammie saw me adding more paint to her squeeze bottles. As soon as she saw that, she ask to make more spinny pictures. She had been following me around and asking a million and one questions, so I was happy to set her up with something that she asked to do.
So we got out the salad spinner (a cheap one that only gets used for crafts, there is no way I would want to eat anything from it after lol), tempra paints in squeeze bottles (I use clear ones from the dollar store, we also have some paint in ketchup and mustard bottles) and paper plates that I've cut to fit inside the spinner. I put a piece of sticky tack inside the basket to hold the plate down and keep it from flying around inside the spinner.
Sammie likes to put in lots of paint and there has to be some of each colour lol
Put the lid on and spin :) The spinner likes to try and run away from Sammie lol She hasn't got quite enough co-ordination to hold the spinner in place and turn the knob at the same time. I usually end up doing one or the other with her
Open the lid and check out how the paint splattered on the plate :)
Sometimes it didn't splatter enough, so she would add more paint and spin some more.
For this plate, she added so much paint, it covered the whole plate :) She thought that was pretty neat and kept trying to make it work out like that again
Not a very good picture, but all of her finished paintings. I'm not sure what we are going to do with all of these yet.
What a great idea! We will have to give this one a try. I just saw you on Kid Blogger Network on FB and thought I would check you out. I hope you will come and share at our Sharing Saturday link party this week. It is for child-oriented crafts and activities. I co-host it. Please stop by http://craftymomsshare.blogspot.com/ and check me out. I am basically sharing what I do with my almost 3 1/2 year old on it.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of her favourite crafts to do :) She is always asking to do the "spinny thingy" lol
