The Wizard's House

We recently moved to our new house and we are having a lot of fun exploring our property. When you have almost 3 acres of land, that's a fair bit of exploring :)

One of my favourite things that we've found so far, is what the girls call "the Wizard's House".

There is this group of pine trees that is almost next to the property line and about halfway back from the house. They are the only pines that we have, other than some little shrubs and bushes right at the house. They are all in this group, growing close together.

The girls explored this group of trees during the winter and kept mentioning the wizard's house. I thought they had been playing a game or something and didn't really question what they were talking about.

When the nice weather came and we were out wandering around. I thought I would check out this group of trees, as they looked interesting.

I walked around to the far side of the group and realized that it wasn't a line of trees like I had thought, but a group of them.

And then what did I find? An opening to go into the trees :)

You go into an opening on the house side of the trees, go around (almost out the other side) and turn a little bit to your left, push a branch aside, to find  a big open space :)

The way that the trees grow forms an almost circular open space in the middle of the trees, a perfect spot for a hidden fort,  or a secret hiding spot or a "Wizard's House". :)

I can see this becoming a great place for the girls to have a little fort or something, as long as no little or not so little critters use it as their place. I will have to keep an out for visitors in here.

It was very hard to get good pictures of what it looks and feels like in there. But it was just so peaceful and quiet, you couldn't even hear any of the traffic going by on the road :)

I wonder why these trees grew like this or were they planted like this? If they were planted like this, I wonder what the reasoning behind it was?

It almost seems magical, being the only pine trees on the property and to find this hidden spot inside them :) I can almost imagine a wizard or some mythical creature making their home in there :)
