Fairy Gardens

Fairies have been a big thing around here lately, especially Sammie with Tinkerbell.  While browsing Pinterest one day, I started noticing a lot of pins for fairy gardens. I just knew the girls would love to make these
Some blogs that inspired us to make our fairy gardens

So Sammie and I went to a garden centre to pick out some plants and supplies for our gardens. We also stopped at the dollar store to find some accessories to use.

I got a couple of little wooden birdhouses to use as our fairy houses

Sammie wanted to paint her fairy house purple, of course :)

We put a layer of gravel in the bottom of our planters and then filled them up with potting soil.
Then planted our plants. Sammie's garden has Alyssum, Nemesia, and Lobelia. Maddie's garden has Dichondra, Iresine, and Petunia. When Sammie was done planting, we had one Alyssum plant left, so Maddie added it to her garden.

Once the plants were in, the girls planned out and designed their gardens. They used glass gems, stones, little wooden mushrooms and frogs, butterflies on sticks, pine cones and shells. Each of them found an empty snail shell and added them to their gardens as well. We used plastic baby food containers to make little ponds. I found little decorative garden stones for each garden. They say "Grown with love" :)
