Fairy Water Globe

I recently saw a Fairy Garden Discovery Bottle on Here Comes The Girls and showed it to Sammie. She really wanted to make one for herself :)

I bought these Bernadin freezer jars to use as our fairy water globe. I knew Sammie would want to always shake it up and play with it, so I really didn't want to use a glass jar. I liked how these jars worked, but I wish the sides were smoother, as the ridges make it a bit hard to see the fairy in the jar. I think I might look around a bit more to see if I can find that might work better and we'll make another one :)

Sammie wanted to use shells, glass gems and pom poms in her water globe. We also took one of the fairies out of our Fairy Garden to put in the water globe.

I used the hot glue gun to glue the fiary, shells and gems where Sammie wanted them put.

While the glue was setting, we filled the cup with water,. You could add a bit of food colouring to the water if you wanted to.
I added a bit of glycerin to the water, as I have heard it makes the glitter fall a bit slower. I really didn't notice any difference with the glycerin in it or not.
Then we added some multi-coloured glitter to our water and screwed the lid onto the jar. Sammie decided that she didn't want to use the pom poms after all, as they looked really big in the water. If we had some smaller ones, I'm sure they would have looked better. Once the lid was on tight and I was that Sammie didn't want to change anything, I used the hot glue gun to put some glue around the lid to keep the water from leaking out.

And there is Sammie's Fairy Water Globe :)

Sammie really enjoyed making this fairy water globe and deciding how she wanted it to look. She loves to flip it upside down, shake it and watch the glitter fall down :)

I have noticed that a couple of the glass gems have come unglued from the lid, so I should have used a bit more glue to hold them in place. I would really like to find a better jar to use. But the water globe is still very pretty :)
