So far for Noisy Week, I have shared our Jingle Bell Bracelets and our Balloon/ Tin Can Drums. Today I will be sharing our Easter Egg Shakers :)
I found this idea at MADE blog. They used tape to hold the spoons to the egg instead of glue.
To make these shakers, you will need:
-empty plastic Easter eggs
-two plastic spoons for each shaker
-something small to put in each egg. We used dried peas and millet
-hot glue gun
Put some of your filling inside one half of the egg. For the eggs that we put the millet in, we used a little bit of hot glue to block the little holes in the ends of the eggs. I was worried that the millet would leak out of the holes.
Close the eggs. We sealed the openings with hot glue to keep the eggs from opening and spilling everywhere.
Glue two spoons to the eggs, placing the egg in the cup part of the spoons. Place spoons across from each other. We found the glue didn't work that well, as our spoons keep falling off. We were using a low temp glue gun, so maybe a high temp gun might work better.
Once the glue cools and is dry, start shaking them and making music :)
This was a fun craft :) The girls love the shaking noise from them. Sammie really liked how the different fillings made different noises. Austin was playing with them as well. He would hold one in each hand and crawl around, making them shake and rattle as he moved around. He kept laughing as he made them make noise :)
We found that the hot glue didn't work very well for holding the spoons onto the eggs. As I said above, we used a low temp glue gun, so a high temp might work better. If we make these again, I might try that or maybe try tape.
The shakers still work, even if they are not on the spoons :)
