This was a craft that Maddie thought of, bought the supplies and set it up all by herself. :) She bought two of these plain wood frames and some wooden decorations from Wal Mart and when we got home, she set it all up.
She set out a variety of tempera paints in a muffin tin and brought out the rhinestone shapes, glitter glue, puffy paint, and white glue.
Coloured pasta, buttons, beads, little shells or foam stickers would probably look great too :)
The girls painted their frames how they wanted them. Of course, Sammie chose purple paint lol
Once the paint was dry, they glued on the decorations that they wanted. Sammie decorated hers with a lot of puffy paint, rhinestone gems.
Maddie painted hers to look like an outdoor scene, so that her wooden decorations fit in the picture :)
After everything was dry and set, they picked out pictures to put in their frames. Maddie printed off a picture collage that she made on the computer.
Sammie used a drawing that she coloured. :)
Then we had to find the perfect places to display them :) Sammie's is on her dresser and Maddie hung hers up in her room.
This was a fun craft for the girls to do and I was quite proud of Maddie for thinking it up, buying the stuff, setting it up and cleaning it all up after they were done :)
I loved decorating frames when I was a little girl. Now I have two children. One is 6 and the other is 3. I did this with my 6 year old and she had so much fun. Unfortunately, My new frames from PhotoFrames.net are now ruined because my 3 year old woke up from her nap and wanted to decorate as well. Instead of the wood frames, she went for the real ones. I am so glad we were using washable paint so I can now display the frames once again.
