Flowers Challenge

This month's creative challenge at Tinker Lab is to create with flowers. Knowing Sammie and her love for picking flowers, I just knew she would love to try something out :)

After Sammie got home from daycare, I sent her and Maddie outside to pick some flowers. I told them that they were allowed to pick whatever flowers they wanted and as many as they wanted.

Their bucket of beautiful flowers and a few leaves :)

When they were done picking flowers, they came back inside, where I had set up some contact paper, sticky side up, for them to make a collage with their flowers.

I was going to suggest gluing the flowers to paper, but realized that Sammie would have trouble gluing the flowers. So I knew contact paper would probably work best :)

Starting out with an Iris petal :) I didn't get many pictures of the girls making their pictures, as I was cooking supper lol

When the girls were done making their pictures, I cut another piece of contact paper and laid it over top of the first one and sealed them together. I then put the pictures under some very heavy boxes to try and press the flowers flat and seal the contact paper better.

The girls had a great time picking the flowers and then using them to make a picture with :) Sammie loved the fact that she was allowed to pick any flowers she wanted and that (hopefully) the flowers won't die and she will be able to keep them. She always gets so upset when the flowers that she has picked, wilt and die.

We have a lot of flowers left over, so we will have to think up something else to do with them :)
