Beaded Wind Chimes

I recently purchase this book, which has tons of great crafts in it. :)

I found in it a craft for a Chopstick Wind Chimes, with a variation of a bead mobile.

It has an age recommendation of 6-7 years, but I thought Sammie would probably love to make one of the bead mobiles. :)



To make this beaded wind chime you will need:

-a large assortment of pony beads or any type of bead that you would like to use

- 4  38"pieces of yarn

-key chain ring

-plastic lid

-8 bells

-hot glue gun

- a nail or something to poke holes in the lid

I used yarn that has the hard part on either end, like a shoe lace, to make it easier for Sammie to thread the beads onto it.

I set these beads out but Sammie only used the round pony beads, as the yarn wouldn't go through the holes in the other beads.

I used a nail to poke 8 holes, evenly spaced around the edge of the lid. I think the lid that I used was from a can of formula. I then threaded the yarn through the holes, threading each end through a hold directly across from each other. This leaves the middle of the yarn on the top of the lid.  Then I put all 4 pieces of yarn through the key chain ring and tied a knot below the ring.



Sammie started threading the beads on the yarn. She didn't do any patterns, just did it randomly :)

She sat there for at least an hour or more putting the beads onto the yarn. I ended up doing two of the strands, as she was getting kind of bored of it by the end lol To finish off each string, I took the string and threaded it up, around and back through the last bead. Once she had all the strings filled up with beads, I tied a bell onto the end of each string and used a glue gun to make sure the knots didn't come undone.

 We then took the wind chime outside and hung it up above our play area on the patio :) The bells add a bit of jingling to it and it sounds very pretty when the wind blows :)

This was a great craft for Sammie to do, although I had to do most of the setting it up for her.
